Title

Frederick H. Babbitt Campaign Literature, 1920

Description

Included here are two pieces of campaign literature and a letter from Frederick H. Babbitt to Harold Goddard Rugg. Babbitt was a candidate for the 1920 Republican nomination for Governor of Vermont. In his May 25, 1920 letter, he responds to a request made by Rugg, librarian and collector, for campaign literature. Babbitt shares that he did "not believe that campaign literature is very effective in our state," preferring to gain support through personal interaction. Rust marks and pin holes in the upper left corner indicate the presence of the button mentioned in the letter's closing. Enclosed were a copy of Babbitt's ten point platform and a broadside compiling letters to the editors of various Vermont newspapers.
