Title
Dear Voter, Letter from Frank C. Partridge, January 22, 1931
Creator
Partridge, Frank C. (Frank Charles), 1861-1943
Description
Letter to voters from candidate Frank C. Partridge prior to the March 4, 1931 Republican special primary to fill the United States Senate seat vacated following the death of Senator Frank L. Greene. Partridge was serving in the position at the time of the special election, having been appointed by Governor John E. Weeks immediately following Greene's death. The letter is written on Partridge's US Senate letterhead and the signature is a reproduction. Partridge expresses his regret that his duties in Washington would keep him from campaigning in person and hopes that the letter and personal interactions with his surrogates might substitute for his presence: "If I am not known to you personally, I hope that some of the good friends who are cordially supporting me are known to you, and that you will inquire of them regarding my character, standing, and record." Partridge lost this primary to Warren R. Austin.
