Description

Mailing sent by the Bernie Sanders 2006 Senate campaign encouraging voters to vote early. The front of the mailing features a smiling photograph of President George W. Bush with the text "Find out what he's so happy about." On the reverse, the text continues, "He's Laughing Because a lot of People, for One Reason, or Another, Just Don't vote in Non-Presidential Elections. The card then calls on Vermonters to vote early and "ruin his day." "If Vermonters Vote Early, It'll Give You-Know-Who and All His Friends One Big Headache," superimposed on a photograph of the president looking pained. The mailer includes a detachable postcard that could be used to request an absentee ballot for the November 7, 2006 general election. No-excuse early and absentee voting was introduced in Vermont in 1993.
