Description

Benjamin Falls from its base. Benjamin Falls consists of several sheer falls such as the one in this photo with rapids flowing over the rocks between them. It starts at the outlet dam that forms the reservoir at Montpelier’s filtration plant on Paine Turnpike North in Berlin and ends where Pond Brook crosses the Barre-Montpelier Rd. near the Vermont State Highway Department garage. Berlin’s first gristmill was built at this location, as evidenced by the millwheel in the photo.
