Champlain Islands French-Canadian Families

Description

This is a collection of family history sheets of French-Canadian families living on the three Vermont islands in Lake Champlain compiled by Allen L. Stratton (1912-1986) during the late 1970s and early 1980s. They cover the towns of Alburgh, Grand Isle, Isle La Motte, North Hero, and South Hero. Mr. Stratton published histories on each of these towns.

These family history sheets were scanned from binders let to the Vermont Historical Society by Mr. Stratton after his death. They are organized as Mr. Stratton organized them by Americanized surname as used by the family on the islands. We have also included each family's original French surname(s) which can be searched through the search function in the upper right-hand corner of the pages on this site.

Mr. Stratton was the beneficiary of research by other individuals as he compiled information on island families. When his files included correspondence with these sources we have scanned it an included in the packet of information on that family.
