Champlain Islands History compiled by Allen L. Stratton

Description

Allen L. Stratton (1912-1986) was an historian and genealogist of the Champlain Islands in Vermont. He published four histories of the five towns of the islands, each with a supplementary genealogical volume (South Hero and Grand Isle are combined in one volume.) Mr. Stratton, who was the owner of Shore Acres Motel and Restaurant on North Hero, bequeathed his extensive collection of islands history and genealogy to the Vermont Historical Society in the form of 300 loose leaf binders of family group sheets, transcriptions, photocopies, photographs, town records, and more. The complete collection is available for use by researchers at the Vermont Historical Society's Leahy Library, but we have scanned some of the more hard-to-find items for easier access on this web site.
